It's a wood carving of a bird ~ an eagle? American Indian art? Exactly where it's located, I couldn't begin to know. Got any hints...? Fri 27-Jul-2007 15:16

In and out of Focus

Just got back from another road trip around the northwoods of Wisconsin & the U.P. of Michigan, and I managed to get some Find it Fridays set up for You to try. The waterfall behind these flowers, I could not get cordinates to, was way deep in a gorge so it will have to wait till I do the other falls. Also managed some shots away from My fetish to throw Juli off track. WHK

Dang. Just the other day one of my kids was wishing we were camping. And of course, that makes me think of our beloved U.P., and I sure envy that you are able to spend time amidst that beauty. I was in Traverse City yesterday, and that is also satisfying.... but I couldn't stay. Thu 14-Jun-2007 20:54

Find It Friday

Was out on a lazy drive 3 weeks ago looking for another Find It Foto, heading out to My favorite falls (the preceeding Superior Falls) when along came a deer and as You can see We met. My car suffered only minor cosmetic damage. The deer.......... was dead!! I thought well some tenderlions would be cool at this point but a semi hit the deer which pretty much took care off skinning, gutting and even grinding up the hamburger, I decided to pass with only a bruised ego, I've never damaged a car hitting a deer. WHK

will return next friday with a Find It, forgot to get the coordinates last time

We've been fortunate on the deer vs. auto score, but damn we've had some close calls. Wed 13-Jun-2007 03:49

That's those dam Hurley deer! Lynne (aka North Pole) Wed 13-Jun-2007 16:43

Y'know, if you'd been able to keep the meat, it might have been worth it. Then again, I have never seen a deer explode before, so maybe that scene was worth the price of admission. Too bad for your car, but glad you're okay. Thu 14-Jun-2007 20:52

Find it When

#1
#2
SUPERIOR answer Juli My favorite falls in the northwoods. Only 20 minutes from My cabin and on the shores of Lake Superior. On the east branch of the Montreal river, Which as Juli said is the border between Wisconsin and Michigan from the point on the map where the border goes from strait to crooked, There are 2 other named falls on this river and numerous other less than 5 foot drops, from the next falls up river (Saxon Falls) to Superior Falls is a class 4-5 kyaking river in the spring, Also a favorite river of Mine because I can walk to it in 5 minutes from My cabin WHK

Picture #1 from My deck 05-06-07
Picture #2 looking over Lac La Belle 05-07-07

What a wonderful place to have a cabin. We've just returned from Dad's in Oregon. Just as scenic as your place but without the bitter cold.

btw...love trying to figure these out using only the internet. Thanks for running this again.

Lucky! Great place to escape and relax and enjoy the splendor of this good Earth. It's cool that you also can see a castle from your deck! Sat 26-May-2007 14:18

Find it Friday

The backdrop to the last 2 weeks of cold ice covered Lake Superior. I did not take this shot from the same spot had to walk in a little,it was also early spring, this is also one of the best "undiscovered" agate beaches around. WHK

Coordinates; Well it seems Juli and J.P. got together and narrowed down the search area to between Chequamegon Bay and the Porkies

Superior Falls; the last drop on the Montreal River (which is the dividing line between the states of Michigan & Wisconsin) before it flows into Lake Superior. Fri 20-Apr-2007 14:15

Find it Friday

This would be a follow up to last weeks clue just turned my camera around and took a picture of the shore behind Me. No Wednesday not "Frostbite Falls" but close, kinda, and not Alaska Rajiv, but I do have a shot of Me river rafting up there. WHK

coordinates; well lets narrow this down a little, lets try between "SUPEROIR WISCONSIN" and Marquette Michigan somewhere, next week some GPS coordinates good luck to all that try.

Well, dead center between the two would be the Porcupine Mtns. St. Park...What the heck is that discoloured area near White Pine to the east of 64? Looks like some sort of giant leaching ponds. Where do I find a guide to take me to Nonesuch. I've always wanted to go to Nonesuch... Sat 14-Apr-2007 03:18

You are at Chequomegon Bay. Let's use that as a realistic starting point and go from there. If I'm wrong, and I go west, would I be getting warmer, or colder (figuratively speaking)? Tue 17-Apr-2007 15:44

Find it Friday

Wednesday, Thursday,,, why not Friday also??? How it works! I will give a broad range of coordinates, You the , , Participant will attempt to figure out just where My camera has taken Me this time.... WHK

coordinates between: oooh heck thats Lake Superior, but You have to Find it, next week I will look behind Me and see whats over there. And since turning right would just show the Lake the week after that I will turn My camera to the left from here and show the backdrop to this beautiful spot on a magnificent Lake.

Welcome back!!!!!

Based on your known waterfall fetish and the icy state of the water, our initial guess (subject to change at any time without notice) is..........Frostbite Falls, MN.
